چکیده

We provide a systematic model of spatial reference frames. The model captures concepts underlying natural language expressions in English that represent both external and internal as well as static and dynamic relationships between entities. Our implementation in the functional language Haskell generates valid English sentences from situations and reference frames. Spatial reference frames are represented by the spatial roles of locatum, relatum, and, optionally, vantage, together with a directional system. Locatum, relatum, and vantage can be filled by entities taking on the discourse roles of speaker, addressee, and participant (grammatically expressed by first, second, and third person). Each of these roles may remain unspecified in a linguistic

Translation and Hybridity in Scenes and Frames Semantics

The present study is a theoretical attempt to illustrate how Fillmore's Scenes and Frames Semantics (SFS) could be employed as a framework to portray the process of understanding and translating hybrid texts. It first reviews the origin of SFS; then it maps SFS onto Nida’s linguistic model of translation process and the Interpretive Theory of Translation; it examines in the next section, withi...

A Super - Element Based on Finite Element Method for Latticed Columns Computational Aspect and Numerical Results

This paper presents a new super-element with twelve degrees of freedom for latticed columns. This elements is developed such that it behaves, with an acceptable approximation, in the same manner as a reference model does. The reference model is constructed by using many Solid elements. The cross section area, moments of inertia, shear coefficient and torsoinal rigidity of the developed new elem...

A neural-dynamic architecture for flexible spatial language: Intrinsic frames, the term "between", and autonomy

Spatial language is a privileged channel of humanrobot interaction. We extend a neural-dynamic architecture for grounded spatial language in three ways: First, viewercentered vs. intrinsic reference frames may be autonomously selected. Using intrinsic reference frames requires estimation of the orientation of the reference object. Second, we employ a similar orientation estimation to enable the...

Formal Models for Cognition - Taxonomy of Spatial Location Description and Frames of Reference

Language uses location description with respect to spatial reference frames. For the transformation from a visual perception to the relative expression the reference frames must fix three parameters: • origin (e.g., the speaker, an object, another person), • orientation (e.g., the axial frame of the speakers, of the addressee, of another object), • handedness of the coordinate system (same as a...
